Welcome to the Milton Police Department web site, and thank you for your interest in us.
The Mission of the Milton Police Department is a commitment of working in partnership with the public to serve and protect the community in a sensitive, efficient and effective manner. The goal of the Department is to constantly and consistently improve the level of public safety, the quality of life and the peace of mind of the citizens of the our community. We accomplish these objectives by our commitment to the concept of Community Policing.
This partnership between the citizens and the police requires high levels of involvement, trust and respect by both groups, to make the mission work. The result will enable the police to protect and serve the community in finest fashion possible.
We desire to build this partnership by expanding on existing programs like community crime watch, and other home security and safety programs. Our staff will promote continued cooperation by providing programs to the community that educate and hopefully have a positive impact on public safety and quality of life.
One new, and increasingly popular and effective, method of communication is the Internet and the World Wide Web. Our web site provides current, regularly updated information to the community that directly affects and impacts the quality of life in Milton and surrounding areas. We are hopeful that this information will be used by concerned citizens to take steps to reduce and/or eliminate criminal violations and to help the police solve crimes.
The web site also contains tips on crime prevention strategies, announcements of events of interest to residents, awards and recognitions that have been earned by members of the Milton Police Department and general information relative to the operation of the department.
This new technology also allows the Milton Police Department to quickly gather information from other law enforcement agencies, that are close by and those far away, which can verify the location and identity of criminals. This technology saves time and effort, which means more time for our officers to spend protecting and serving the community.
Since 1874 Police Officers have served the Milton Community and today, 9 sworn officers proudly wear the badge for the Milton Police Department. These men patrol the Borough in patrol cars, on bicycles, and on foot. They can be found downtown, at the schools, around the parks, on the streets and in the back alleys of town, at any given moment of the day or night. The department also utilizes the skills and experience of civilian personnel and dedicated volunteers, who provide invaluable support services to the police force.
I firmly believe that a decrease in crime, and the improvement in the quality of life, will be the result of a strong team effort -- police working to enforce laws and prevent crime, and active community participation in neighborhood groups, schools and churches.
In closing, thank you from the members of the Milton Police Department. Please continue to maintain your level of involvement and interest. Please, use the information contained on our web site to help identify new ways that we can work together to make our community safer and stronger.
